GYUBIN (규빈) Interview

Thanks for your time, can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi guys! I’m Gyubin, back with my very first album, 'Flowering', showing my growth as a singer-songwriter. I took part in writing and composing every track, pouring my emotions into each song. I hope you enjoy it and give it lots of love!

You had an impressive debut at a very young age. What has that experience been like for you?

I was so lucky to debut at a young age as a solo artist, which was always my dream. It gave me the chance to experience so much and turn my teenage years into stories through music.

There have been challenges, of course, but the support from my fans has made everything so special. I’m just grateful that I get to do what I love every day.

You collaborated with artists like Wonstein and Gaeko before you made your debut. What was it like working with them?

It was such an honor to meet and work with them even before my debut. They’re both artists I admire so much, and just being able to watch them work taught me a lot but I also learned so many things during making and recording songs together. They have such unique styles, and seeing how they bring their own colors to a song was really inspiring.

Your song 'Really Like You' has a very fresh and emotive vibe, winning over many listeners with its charm. After the success of your debut, how do you think this song has defined your musical identity and what can we expect from you in the future?

‘Really Like You’ felt like the perfect way to introduce myself, it’s bright, youthful, and full of emotion, which are all things I love to express in my music. I wanted to capture a fresh and honest version of myself at that age, and knowing that so many people connected with it made me feel incredibly proud, happy and grateful. Moving forward, I want to keep growing naturally and reflecting that journey in my music. More than anything, I hope to continue creating songs that people can relate to and find comfort in, just like ‘Really Like You’ did.

Your upcoming mini-album 'Flowering' has a title that evokes growth and renewal. How does this concept represent your evolution as an artist?

‘Flowering’ represents a new chapter for me—not just as an artist, but as a person. If my debut was like planting a seed, this album is the moment where I start to bloom. It captures my excitement, growth, and the emotions that come with embracing change. Through this album, I hope listeners can feel that journey and find their own meaning in it as well.

Fans are excited to hear the new material. What emotions do you expect them to experience when they hear the album for the first time?

There are moments of excitement, warmth, and nostalgia, but also a sense of growth and self discovery. I hope the album feels like a journey, one that reminds them of their own experiences with love and change. Because ‘love’ isn’t just about excitement or happiness, it’s also about understanding ourselves more deeply and growing through the connections with others. More than anything, I just want them to feel comfortable and connected to the music

What can we expect from 'Flowering' in terms of sound and concept?

'Flowering' has a fresh and bright sound, but it also carries a sense of growth and emotion. The concept is all about blooming, stepping into a new chapter with excitement and confidence. I also wanted to share the message that just like some flowers bloom quickly while others take a little more time, we’re all blooming in our own way and at our own pace— and that’s just as beautiful. You’ll hear a mix of playful energy and heartfelt moments. This is an album that explores the different emotions of ‘love’ in various genres such as teen-pop, medium tempo songs, and ballad style.

Are there any songs on the album that have a special meaning for you?

All the songs on the album feel like little treasures to me, but ‘Evergreen’ is especially meaningful. The more I listen to it and sing along, the happier I feel. I still remember rushing to a song session right after school in my uniform, completely immersed in the music. That whole process holds a special place in my heart, and it was the first time I ever got goosebumps while composing. The vibe, the genre, and the melody are all so me, and every time I hear it, I feel this surge of energy—like I’m falling a little more in love with myself.

Your amount of listeners continues to increase on streaming platforms. How do you feel knowing that so many people enjoy your music?;

It still feels a little unreal and I’m just really grateful for all the love and support. Knowing that so many people connect with my music is the most rewarding feeling. It gives me so much motivation.

If you hadn’t followed the way of music, what do you think you’d be doing now?

Since I love eating and traveling, I might have become a content creator, sharing food from around the world. Another option would be an elementary school teacher(It was a childhood dream of mine, inspired by a teacher I deeply admired.)

If you could collaborate with any artist, korean or international, who would it be and why?

There are so many artists I’d love to collaborate with, but of course my muse and role-model, Taylor Swift. She’s not only my favorite singer but also my biggest inspiration. I’d love to experience and see how she works with others, creates her music, and tells her own story—her entire process is so inspiring and full of energy.

Lastly, finishing the interview, do you want to send a message to the fans of Latin America and Spain?

More than anything, I wanted this album to be something we can ‘bloom’ together with. Rather than giving it some grand meaning, I just hope these songs can bring even a little bit of bright energy to your day—something positive, happy, and comforting as you go about your everyday life. I’m always so grateful for everyone who supports me and I’ll continue to stay by your side with music , hoping we can share this journey for a long, long time. Gracias. Te quiero 💛
